Over the last 30 years the Twillingate, New World Island, Change Islands Development Association has sponsored a variety of initiatives. Many of them have involved the fishery and the local tourism industry. Projects as varied as constructing wharves, developing tourism brochures and providing employment services have been sponsored by the Association.

The Development Association also supports other organizations throughout the area and over the years has contributed a great deal to the area's economy. It also attempts to meet the social and community development needs of the region through the construction of facilities and the sponsoring of various training and secondary education programs. The Association has, for the past 30 years, been there ready and willing to assist with any worthwhile undertaking.

Like many other areas of the Province, this region suffers from chronically high unemployment. The Association is attempting to address this situation through various training, adult literacy, employment assistance and student programs.
