  • CARS Automotive Technologies Internship Program
    The Canadian Automotive Repair and Service (CARS) Council offers employers in the automotive parts and service industry a subsidy of one-third of the wages when they hire unemployed or underemployed graduates of a post-secondary automotive technology program.   • Environment Canada's Science Horizons Youth Internship Program
    This program provides six-month to one-year placements for unemployed or underemployed young scientists and post-secondary graduates. HRDC provides a maximum $12000 contribution per project, while employers provide a minimum of 30% of the project costs.   • Experience Canada
    Organizations who provide work experience to youth participants through Experience Canada get advantages like: qualified, job ready employees for six months; no recruitment costs; no company payroll or fringe-benefit costs; bursaries paid by Experience Canada; liability/supplementary health insurance; 42-hour workplace assistance and mentoring; and community support from a volunteer committee.   • First Nations and Inuit Summer Student Career Placement Program
    This program provides wage contributions to employers who create jobs for Inuit and First Nations students on-reserve. For more information, contact the nearest First Nation or Department of Indian Affairs and Northern Development office.

  • First Nations and Inuit Youth Work Experience Program
    This program provides supervised work experience for out-of-school, unemployed First Nations and Inuit youths 16 to 24 years of age. The program pays minimum wage plus benefits for a period of six to nine months.   • Housing Internship Initiative for First Nations and Inuit Youth
    This youth employment initiative provides work experience and on-the-job training for First Nations and Inuit youths who have an eligible sponsor. Approved sponsors recieve financial support toward the wages of First Nations or Inuit youth employed on housing-related projects. For more information, contact:

  • International Environmental Youth Corp.
    The International Environmental Youth Corporation helps reduce the risk, time and cost of hiring by providing a variety of services and a wage subsidy that covers approximately 40% of a young professional's wages during the first year of employment.   • Natural Resources Canada's Science and Technology Internship Program

  • ON-SITE
    The ON-SITE program matches university and college graduates across Canada with employers for placements of up to six months. Employers pay no salaries - HRDC provides ON-SITE workers with EI benefits. Employers do however have to contribute $2600 per placement to cover ON-SITE's services.   • Science and Technology Internships in Apparel Program
    Canadian apparel manufacturers interested in improving their ability to efficiently adopt and adapt appropriate technologies or to apply scientific and engineering methods to improve quality and productivity may find this program helpful. The program offers a wage subsidy of up to $8000 per internship to apparel manufacturers who hire unemployed or underemployed post-secondary Technology or science graduates under 30 years of age.   • Science Horizons Program
    Organizations doing research in agri-food science or veterinary medicine are eligible for this program. This internship program contributes $1.2 million annually to private-sector research projects that employ students and recent graduates in agri-food science and veterinary medicine.   • Student Summer Job Action
    The following Student Summer Job Action initiatives are designed to create summer work experience for secondary and post-secondary students and are delivered in partnership with various groups in the private and non-profit sectors.

    • Summer Career Placements

    • HRDC Offices for Students
      You can get quick access to enthusiastic workers by contacting one of the 360 HRDC Offices for Students - open across Canada during the summer months. Check the Government of Canada section of your telephone directory for the nearest office.

    • Partners in Promoting Summer Employment
      This program provides business associations with funding to hire students and to promote the hiring of students within their communities without using government wage subsidies.   • Textile Management Internship Program
    Employers looking for science and engineering graduates may find this program helpful. The program is an intensive, 12 month, post-graduate program in textile technology and graduate level managerial skills. For more information, contact:

  • Youth International
    Youth International is a federal internship program that helps employers provide out-of-school, unemployed or underemployed youth with an internationally focused work experience. Youth International sponsors include business organizations (including non-profit, employer, professional and labour associations), public health and education institutions, band/tribal councils, and municipal governments.   • Youth International Internship Program
    In this program, private and public sector partners and non-governmental and international organizations co-operate with the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade to produce international opportunities for youth - on a shared-cost basis with cash or in-kind contributions from implementing organizations and employers. The Department funds Canada based implementing organizations to find placements with overseas host organizations and then recruit interns to fill the positions.
