About PAA Who we are
The Protected Areas Association of Newfoundland and Labrador (PAA) is the only non-profit organization working full-time for wilderness conservation
across this province. We are an incorporated non-governmental organization
with charitable status, and were formed in the fall of 1989.
The PAA's goal is to protect our province's biodiversity by conserving
examples of all our province's habitats and species. This requires a
network of parks and reserves representing all 35 of our natural regions.
We also want a marine network established by the year 2010.
Having these special habitats protected from industrial uses will give us
permanent spaces for wilderness tourism and research, and places for
Newfoundlanders and Labradorians to enjoy now and for generations to come.
