| The museum opened in 1992. It is located in the Rectory (which was built in 1952) of Our Lady of Mercy Church. The church itself was consecrated in 1925. The church is the largest wooden structure in Newfoundland and seats over 1000 people. |

| The building also houses a tea room and a privately operated gift shop. Admission is $2.00 for adults and children under 12 admitted free of charge. | |
| Some of the items on display include antique furniture, a complete set of tools and equipment associated with an old tinsmithing operation (donated by Abbott and Haliburton), a collection of dolls and children's toys, artifacts/images associated with the Aguathuna quarry, medical artifacts, religious artifacts and a library of out-of-print books and newspaper clippings.
